Even they have been forced in recent years to admit that dieting doesn’t work.
That admission finally came on the other side of powerful research conducted by professionals with an interest in accuracy and longterm health outcomes over profit and quarterly margins.
Now diet culture has pivoted to medications, but their message remains the same: There’s a right and a wrong body, and you need to pay us to get the right one, or else.
That "or else" messaging includes everything from saying you’ll be sick to saying you’ll be unloveable unless your body complies. Our research is about challenging that message.Â
We believe:
- Healthcare choices are individual, and should stay in the realm of healthcare choices, not moral prerogatives or social rules.
- Health exists within the spectrum of body diversity.Â
- Loveability exists within the spectrum of body diversity.
- Living a full and heartfelt life exists for us all, and we don’t have to wait to be a certain size to do it.
Want to help us prove it?Â
Here’s what we’re looking for:
Research Partners
We're looking for researchers and clinicians interested in studying integrated, weight-neutral approaches to health and body image. We are particularly aligned with those working across psychology, medicine, and nutrition.
Organizations
Most organizations have spent years cycling through weight loss programming that doesn't deliver lasting results. That's not a failure of investment, it's a failure of the model. If you're ready to try something different, we want to hear from you.
